Practical Information
"We do not want to be jogged or jigged out of our mood, buta real friend to tolerate us, help us a little, and wait.."
Winnicott
First meeting and fee
For the initial meeting I ask couples to allow an hour and a half (subsequent meetings are for sixty minutes). This first conversation is an opportunity for me to hear what has brought you and for you to see how a session feels. If I cannot help you I would try to assist you to find someone more suitable. If all three of us feel hopeful about the relationship I would suggest that we meet for six weeks and after that we would review together where we have got to and whether we would move on to open ended therapy.
The fee for regular sixty-minute sessions is £140. For our first meeting we need a ninety-minute session and the charge for this is £250. Ongoing sessions are billed at the end of each month. For the initial session I ask for payment three days in advance.
Frequency and location
Sessions are weekly, or occasionally more frequent and they are held at the same time each week. Sessions will last for fifty minutes unless we jointly agree that longer sessions of ninety minutes would be helpful. All sessions are online.
Registration
I am registered with both BACP
and UKCP
(British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy). Both of these organisations have a complaints procedure so that members of the public can directly raise concerns about a registered therapist.
Confidentiality
Sessions are confidential within the bounds of UK law. When I work with couples the confidentiality is shared between the three of us. When I start work with clients I provide them with my Privacy Statement and seek their permission to hold their data. I am registered with the ICO.
